Walter AG retains “Preferred Supplier” status for Bosch
For the third time, the Tübingen-based specialist in high-tech metal cutting tools has been awarded the “Preferred Supplier” certificate from Robert Bosch GmbH. With this certificate, the automotive supplier, which manufactures across the world, honoured Walter for its high level of quality, innovative capability and on-time delivery.
As a long-standing partner of Bosch, Walter is currently supplying standard and special tools to over 50 Bosch sites in 17 countries: From indexable insert tools and round tools, through to complex special solutions. Bosch uses Walter tools to manufacture, in particular, injection systems, hydraulic components, and control and regulating elements.
“We set very demanding standards on the work carried out by our suppliers as far as quality and continuously reducing our manufacturing costs is concerned. Walter again impressed us in these areas,” says Giari Fiorucci, Corporate Sector Purchasing and Logistics Indirect Material and Services – Tools at Bosch GmbH. Walter’s ability to innovate is also exemplary, according to Fiorucci. Both partners work together to test and optimise new tool systems from Walter in Bosch’s manufacturing processes in order to increase the life of the tools and manufacturing productivity, for example.
For Walter, this third certification as a “Preferred Supplier” validates our decision to concentrate on “Engineering Kompetenz”. “Based on this principle, we are continuously optimising the machining processes at Bosch and I really like that we are constantly challenged to try out something new. Our collaboration always involves clearly measurable successes and if we can provide proof of these successes, we will be able to further expand our relationship in the coming years – also with regard to the digitalisation of manufacturing and Industry 4.0,” emphasises Mirko Merlo, Chairman of Walter AG.
