TRUMPF Acquires Majority Stake in Metamation India Software

Software issues are becoming increasingly important for the sale of machinery, which is why the TRUMPF Group is stepping up its software activities. In addition to expanding the development area at its headquarters in Ditzingen, the laser and machine tool manufacturer has now gained a foothold in the Indian software cluster of Chennai. With effect from August 2014, the TRUMPF Group acquired a majority stake of 51 percent in the Indian software manufacturer Metamation India Software Pvt. Ltd. As a result, TRUMPF is also participating indirectly in the company’s American subsidiary Metamation Inc. in Reno, Nevada.

India Metamation specializes in the development of software for machine tools, and is the producer of the widely-used software “Metacam”, which can be used to operate machine tools of different makes. The company in southeast India employs around 40 people and recently achieved annual sales of approximately 3.5 million US dollars.

With this majority stake, TRUMPF has opened up an additional software development cell. With the specific sheet metal working expertise of India Metamation, TRUMPF’s own software TruTops will be set to take a further step into the future. It is currently doing just that: at the leading exhibition “Euroblech 2014”, the new version “TruTops Boost” is celebrating its world premiere. Its intelligent connections enable automated, continuous work. From 3D parts all the way to complete NC programs for bending, punching and laser programs, all the steps of a job are included – for optimal interplay between software and machine.
