Geometric and Machining Training Solutions work together to fill critical skill gaps

Machining Training Solutions (MTS), the developer of the most advanced CNC simulation-based training system in the U.S, and Geometric, a leader in advanced manufacturing software including CAMWorks®, have partnered to address a critical skill gap in the manufacturing industry: The lack of skilled CAD/CAM programmers and CNC operators for advanced computerized machines.

The companies have joined forces to deliver state-of-the-art training programs at Eastern Florida State University to fill the growing demand for skilled, advanced technology positions critical for leading U.S. manufacturers competing on a global scale.

New training programs are being developed through this partnership to leverage Geometric’s feature based CAD/CAM system and MTS’s interactive training programs on PC and mobile platforms and to offer training to students any time on any device. In addition, these fully interactive training programs allow students to learn real-world manufacturing in a virtual environment using the world’s most advanced virtual CNC machine simulation software. “CAMWorks is a perfect partner for providing this solution. Its intuitive approach and the ability to build upon the knowledge of experienced machinists helps the students come up to speed faster than ever before”, says Al Stimac, President at Machining Training Solutions.

A recent survey by Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that 51% of the upcoming jobs in manufacturing involved in production will require the ability to operate and manage increasingly complex CNC equipment. “We are proud to be a key technology provider to fill this skill gap and aid in the resurgence of manufacturing in the U.S” says Jim Foster, Head – Global Channel Sales at Geometric. For the first time, colleges like Eastern Florida State will be able to leverage this ground-breaking technology to provide students with the skills they require for skilled and high paying positions with leading manufactures in Florida and throughout the nation.
