TRUMPF acquires a stake in the two software vendors Xetics and C-Labs – consistent strengthening of the Industry 4.0 portfolio
TRUMPF has acquired a majority stake in Xetics GmbH. The Stuttgart-based software manufacturer specializes in manufacturing execution systems (MES) for small and medium-sized enterprises. These are a key element for the networking of production, also known as Industry 4.0. Xetics enables the integrated monitoring and detailed planning of production processes according to lean principles. Via a dashboard, information on active processes, stations, products, orders or material status can be accessed at any time – either at the workstation or on mobile devices. The software can be integrated into a company’s own system landscape or used in the cloud. As a manufacturing execution system, the software “Xetics Lean” developed by the company is the perfect complement to the AXOOM platform founded by TRUMPF. AXOOM offers the opportunity to control and handle all steps, from order acceptance and production control to material procurement and shipping processes in production.
In addition, TRUMPF has acquired a stake in C-Labs, headquartered in Redmond, Washington (USA). The company provides software solutions for highly secure and easy machine data capture within production environments – with transfer from the machine to the factory IT network as well as to the cloud. For the networking of production, secure data transmission is critical. C-Labs guarantees this on two levels: as a pure software solution or with the inclusion of hardware as well, providing a kind of router for the factory.
The solutions by C-Labs are vendor-independent, and can be connected to any machine controls. Data transfer takes place between production facilities, as part of MES and ERP systems, or in the cloud. The data are aggregated and encoded prior to communication over the Internet. In this way, C-Labs provides its customers from manufacturing industry with a unified solution for the secure connection of their entire production.
With these acquisitions, TRUMPF is securing strategic partners on the path to a comprehensive Industry 4.0 portfolio for its customers. It was agreed not to disclose the purchase prices in either case.
