SMTCL announces first SMART factory in north america

SMTCL-Americas announced that it has entered into a collaborative agreement with Rassini to develop the first “SMTCL SMART Factory” in North America.

Rassini is a lead designer and manufacturer of suspension and brake components for the global automotive industry. Rassini is the world’s largest producer of suspension components for light commercial vehicles as well as the largest fully integrated brake rotor producer in the Americas. Rassini has eight manufacturing sites strategically located in North America and Brazil.

SMTCL collaborates with Customers to convert their manufacturing operations into “SMART Factories” by working closely to provide new equipment, integrate automation, and incorporate modern control technology. The SMART Factory at Rassini will involve new CNC equipment, new automation, and new processes to make Rassini products more efficientlyand more cost effectively, while also improving the qualityand reliability of Rassini’s products.

SMTCL will also provide real time manufacturing data to Rassini’s ERP System that will help Rassini personnel in managing their factory.

Jerry McCarty, Chief Operating Officer of SMTCL-Americas, stated “This is a great step in SMTCL’s development in North America. We are extremely honored that Rassini has put this trust in SMTCL to help them meet their manufacturing challenges. This kind of collaboration has not been seen in North American manufacturing and I am confident it will produce great results.” SMTCL’s distributor, Enihcam Corporation, will assist in providing service and integration of the new manufacturing system.

Brian Schram, President of Enihcam, stated, “We are proud to bring this new level of manufacturing to North American factories. This new relationship of trust, confidence, and providing the best tools for a job is the foundation of Enihcam.”

To respect Rassini’s competitive position in the industry, SMTCL will not disclose the Rassini products involved or the facilities where the new machines will be installed. However, some of the machines will incorporate SMTCL’s new i5 Control.

The i5 CNC Control was debuted at IMTS 2016 in Chicago, IL. In addition to bringing world-class performance and reliabilityto customers, the i5 Control is easy to use and brings a new level of information to Customers. The control can be used on 2,3,4 and 5-Axis machines. The i5 CNC Control was named after the characteristics it brings to customers: Intelligent, Internet, Integrate, Industry, and Information.

“The i5 Control will revolutionize manufacturing by itsease-of-use and its highper formance.” said Jerry McCarty, Chief Operating Officer of SMTCL. “In addition,it will provide accurate information directly into manufacturing production systems which otherwise had to be entered manually by machine operators. The ability of the i5 Control to work in lights out operations will also make SMTCL machines more productive and less costly.”
