Seco has widened its range of efficient solutions for demanding materials with further additions to its high-performing turning grades, TH1000 and TH1500. Available in both negative and centre-locked-styled inserts, these grades offer significant boosts to productivity and process stability.
A TiSiN-TiAIN nanolaminate PVD-coated grade, TH1000 excels in operations involving lower cutting data and interrupted cuts. It brings maximum toughness and high chip resistance to the turning of hard-surfaced components and finish turning of hardened steel parts (HRC 50-62). The grade is also highly resilient to edge fracture and promotes effective chip control in these types of applications. TH1000 is also a superior grade for finishing and semi-finishing of superalloys, such as Inconel 718, Waspaloy and Nimonic C263. The grade offers a significant step forward compared to other carbide finishing grades, allowing cutting speeds to be increased by 50% – 100%. Together with carbide grades TS2000 and CP200 and CBN grade CBN170, TH1000 establishes a complete finishing package for superalloys.
Intended to handle higher cutting data, TH1500, which features Seco’s exclusive Duratomic® coating, brings an ideal combination of wear resistance and edge toughness to continuous cut operations involving hardened steel components (HRC 40-55). In the finishing of grey cast iron and nodular cast iron at low-to-moderate cutting speeds, TH1500 provides long tool life and is therefore a good complement to the TK100 and TK2001 grades.
The chipbreaker range available for the TH1000 and TH1500 insert grades maximises chip control to provide high process security and longer tool life in a broad range of operations.
