For many years, the SCHUNK high-performance rotary modules have been successfully used in laboratory, research, and industrial applications. SCHUNK, the competence leader for clamping technology and gripping systems has now enlarged its mechatronic product line with the series SCHUNK PR 2, PDU 2, and PSM 2, and offers three particularly compact, intelligent drives with a very compact performance, optimized for robust applications in the field of industry. The complete power electronics of the modules has been fully integrated into the modules, no external controller is needed, and cabling as well as error susceptibility are minimized.
Fast and easy commissioning
The modules are available in three each standardized unit sizes. Equipped with standardized plug connections, they can be quickly and easily connected. Optionally, control is done by Profibus (up to 12 Mbit/s) or CAN-Bus (up to 1 Mbit/s). For commissioning and parameterization by PC with the SCHUNK motion tool, the modules are equipped with USB connection, and can be manually addressed by means of an easily adjustable rotary encoding switch. Initial module movements can be manually realized via a DIP switch. The status of each module can be seen on an LED display. Due to the integrated Harmonic Drive, the PR2 rotary module, and the PDU 2 drive for linear axes achieve enormous torques between 16 Nm and 184 Nm – depending on the module size. The directly driven PSM 2 module can be used for fast movement of small masses. It is compact and achieves at a torque of 1.8 Nm up to 4,320 rpm. Position, speed, and torque of all the three modules can be individually controlled. An incremental encoder ensures high position and repeat accuracy. The integrated holding brake is activated as soon as the target position is reached. For evaluation of the sensor signals, the module is equipped with two digital inputs.
