Sandvik Coromant Organises Aerospace Industry Meet at Bangalore

Aerospace Industry in India is witnessing numerous investments. Along with HAL, OEM’s like Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Airbus, Goodrich are actively developing new vendors in India. In order to develop a healthy aerospace ecosystem in India and to take this initiative forward, Sandvik Coromant along with NCAIR (National Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research – A Dept of science and technology, Govt India, Boeing and IIT Bombay collaboration), organized Aerospace Industry Meet at Bangalore on July 5, 2014.

Mr. Bala Bharadvaj (Director – Boeing, India) graced the event as the Chief guest. Other dignitaries included Mr. N. C. Vyas (Exe. Director, HAL), Dr. Harish Barshilia (Chief Scientist NAL Bangalore) & Dr. Asim Tiwari (Associate Professor – IIT Bombay).

Shailesh Prabhune, President, Sandvik Coromant India, kick started the event by welcoming the audience aboard. He emphasized the need of working jointly with consortiums like NCAIR to take Indian Aerospace industry to next level.

Mr. Bala Bharadvaj shared Boeing’s vision on “Opportunities in Aerospace in India”. He highlighted how any supplier can be part of Boeing’s value chain.

Dr. Asim Tiwari shed light on the projects currently undertaken by NCAIR. He also explained how NCAIR is ready to support manufacturing challenge faced by the Aerospace industry and providing them a platform to interact with industry stalwarts.

Aniruddha Wadalkar, Aerospace Manager, Sandvik Coromant India, presented Sandvik Coromant’s solutions in Aerospace and services like Application Center & Technical training. He also shared Sandvik Coromant’s Web solutions in Aerospace, like Apps and interactive feature such as CoroGuide 2.0.

Mr. N C Vyas focussed on the HAL’s association with NCAIR. Dr. Harish B shared his work on latest nano-coatings for Aero industry.

The panel discussion was one of the major highlights of the day where participants opened up and voiced their issues that they were currently facing without proper know how of existent support. Panelists, answering to all the queries, urged audience to approach NCAIR and its board members for any aerospace related support in future.

Participants came aboard for the event, not only from Bangalore but also from cities Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
This consortium has opened doors to Indian Aerospace Industry by posing an unique chance of interacting with industry stalwarts to tackle the manufacturing challenges related to Aerospace.
