On October 16 Sandvik Coromant celebrated the grand opening of its cutting-edge Productivity Center and Aerospace Application Center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
Guests toured the two machining areas featuring a variety of CNC machines, which the company uses for research, training and customer projects. A full engineering staff on site provides CAM programming, design and other services to customers. Generally open only to authorized personnel, the ITAR certified Aerospace Application Center provides machining capacity for sensitive customer projects.
Guest speaker Joe Moody, president and executive director of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) discussed the value of collaborative research. Keynote speaker was Wayne Chaneski, executive director of the Center for Manufacturing Systems at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Klas Forsström, global company president and Eduardo Martin, Market Area Americas president spoke about the value of collaboration with global suppliers and investing in recruitment and training for the future. Engineering Vice President Sean Holt discussed the current trends in manufacturing aerospace components and its imminent opportunities.
The building’s open floorplan was designed with collaboration, innovation and sustainability in mind, to enhance the relationships between the metalcutting tool supplier and its customers and partners.
