SCHUNK, the competence leader for clamping technology and gripping systems is the first manufacturer to successfully combine lightweight design with maximum payload capacity and an extraordinary design in a single power chuck. The SCHUNK ROTA NCE wedge hook power chuck features a high payload capacity combined with minimal weight. Compared to conventional power chucks the mass moment of inertia has been reduced by up to 30% in some models. The SCHUNK ROTA NCE is therefore ideal for high process dynamics and productivity with minimal energy consumption. The energy-efficient power chuck can achieve significant savings by minimizing cycle times especially in large-scale production.
Both economical and sustainable
Within the framework of the VDMA “Blue Competence” sustainability initiative, SCHUNK has demonstrated its long-term commitment to highly efficient production solutions. Advanced gripper guides, integrated micro valves and energy-efficient clamping systems allow a symbiosis of economy and conservation of resources. With the SCHUNK ROTA NCE lightweight chuck the innovative family-owned company has set a new benchmark for power chucks. The specialists at the SCHUNK competence center for lathe chuck technology and stationary clamping systems in Mengen invested about 700 hours in research, development, and modeling to adapt the geometry of the chuck to the flow of force for maximum rigidity despite the lightweight design. A crown structure beneath the jaw guide, circular recesses between the guideways and a conical contour enable substantial weight reduction without a noticeable effect on the rigidity. Instead, the forces are diverted directly into the spindle holder. The reduced weight allows significantly faster acceleration and deceleration of the chuck with lower power consumption in comparison with conventional power chucks.
award winning design
SCHUNK ROTA NCE is designed for CNC lathes with short-stroke cylinders and is fully compatible with conventional lathes of Asian manufacturers. The lightweight chuck will be available starting spring 2017 in four sizes with diameters of 170 mm, 210 mm, 254 mm, and 310 mm, as well as clamping forces of 65 kN, 100 kN, 125 kN and 150 kN. The chuck received the iF DESIGN AWARD 2016 for its special functionality, efficiency, and aesthetics.
