Doosan Machine Tools has announced that it will field thirty-one machine tool models, the company’s largest ever lineup for a tradeshow, at the SIMTOS 2014 to be held at KINTEX exhibition, over an area of 1,800m2. The lineup will comprise nine turning centers, one large vertical turning center, seventeen machining centers, one boring machine and three Swiss-type turning centers.
Most notably, the tradeshow will present an invaluable opportunity for Doosan Machine Tools to display a diverse lineup of 5-axis machine tools and multi-tasking turning centers, which could only be made possible using the high-end technologies and know-how that the company has accumulated over the years. The world-leading technology of these outstanding machine tools will certainly impress the company’s potential clients.
Specifically, Doosan Machine Tools will debut its VCF850LSR, a mid-to-large-sized vertical machining center (a multi-tasking machine), in the Korean market. The VCF series is capable of machining a wide range of parts – from 3 to 5 axes. Its other outstanding characteristics include the 3,000mm travel distance of its X-axis, while its Y-axis, at 850mm, provides a broad machining area. Furthermore, the series realizes a high degree of precision through a high-precision axis system design, and its tilting head and high-rigidity rotary table satisfies the demands of many diverse applications in the Aerospace, Oil/gas and Die/Mold industries. The model has already gained keen attention from clients in Europe and the USA, even though it has yet to be launched in those markets.
SIMTOS 2014 will also feature Doosan’s powerful PUMA SMX series, a next- generation multi-tasking turning center that integrates the functions of turning center and machining center into one single machine tool. The series is characterized by a more stable machine structure made possible by a vertical X axis and true Y axis configuration. The scope of machining has also been expanded, leading to considerable improvements in workers’ productivity and convenience. The series delivers the largest off-center milling range (Y-axis travel distance: 300mm) in its class, while its ergonomic design enables customers to operate it more effectively and comfortably. Most notably, the PUMA SMX series has received several major international design awards for its outstanding design, including the Red Dot Design Award from Germany in 2014; AIDA (Australian International Design Award) in Australia in 2013; and GOOD DESIGN in Korea in 2013. Therefore, we can safely say that its preeminence in terms of its shape, function, quality, safety, durability and innovation has been widely recognized internationally and that it fully deserves all the attention it is currently receiving. The Red Dot Design Award, in particular, was Korea’s first honor in the field of machine tools, and is regarded as the result of the company’s innovative efforts to produce machines of the highest quality with the most sophisticated technology.
Doosan Machine Tools will also take the opportunity to launch its new turning centers, namely, the PUMA GT2600L and the PUMA GT2600M. The PUMA GT2600 series, the centerpiece of the company’s technologies, is the result of the know-how it has accumulated in the industry over many years. GT stands for ‘Global standard Turning center.’ The two models are 2-axis and 3 axis heavy duty box guideway turning centers equipped with a 10-inch chuck. By optimizing the design, the machine tools have undergone remarkable improvements over previous models in terms of operator convenience, workpiece capacity and metal-cutting performance.
Lastly, Doosan Machine Tools will present two more models worthy of particular attention at the trade show: the T Series Tapping Center, which will boost productivity significantly for parts processing in the Automotive and IT industries, and the ST Series, which is a multi-axis Swiss-type turning center optimized for the ultra-precision high-speed processing of small parts.
Doosan Machine Tools will field the largest ever selection of its machine tools at the SIMTOS 2014. As the majority of the visitors will be somewhat unfamiliar with five-axis machine tools and multi-tasking turning centers, the company is planning to deliver brief presentations on these topics at its booth. And, just for fun, it plans to launch a stamp tour, in which participants must visit preselected locations to get a stamp, as well as a photo zone event.
Jaeyoon Lee, the vice president of the Machine Tools BG, said, “At the tradeshow, we will present the optimized solutions that we have developed after recognising the diverse needs of our worldwide customers over the years. Visitors to our booth will be able to experience the latest world-class technologies of Doosan Machine Tools.”
