Doosan Machine Tools has constructed a Large-sized Machine Tool Factory
Doosan Machine Tools recently announced that it had dedicated the construction of a factory specializing in the production of large-sized machines in Seongju-dong, Seongsan-gu, Changwon City, S. Korea, and embarked upon full-scale operation. This is the fourth factory of Doosan Machine Tools including a plant in Yantai, China. The construction of the factory began in 2012. The factory sits on a total area of 110,607m2. The floor area of the production facility is 18,355m2.
Doosan Machine Tools is planning to expand the current production capacity of 1,000 units per year to around 3,600 units per year through its implementation of Phase II, given the bright prospects for the continuous worldwide growth of the oil, gas and aviation industries, the major customer industries of large-sized machine tools.
Large machine tools are not easy to produce or assemble. They require optimized infrastructure for the production of large-scale units. The new Doosan plant is custom-designed for the manufacture of large machine tools, and is also equipped with production equipment and facilities that guarantee precision processing. As such, productivity and efficiency have been greatly improved at the factory.
Specifically, the plant is designed to meet the needs of both super-precision (0.001mm) and high productivity in the production of machine tools. Through ground improvement work, the risk of foundation problems has been minimized. To further ensure the precision of production equipment, temperatures and humidity are strictly controlled in the factory; while to maximize productivity, the factory has been equipped with automatic operating systems for nighttime or 24-hour operations.
