Delcam India to Showcase Die Mould Capabilities at DMI 2014

Delcam India will showcase its CADCAM capabilities for the Die/Mould segment at the DieMould India exhibition to be held in Mumbai from 17th to 20th April.  Delcam India offers a comprehensive set of software, ranging from product design and modification, manufacturability analysis, electrode planning and design, comprehensive design of the mould/die tool through to CNC programming and inspection using the world’s best CAM and metrology technology.

Providing seamless integration between Computer-Aided Design, Computer-Aided Manufacturing and Computer-Aided Inspection, Delcam’s solutions are unique in enabling a multitude of capabilities in the toolroom, with the shortest learning curve across the disciplines.

Continuing to add value to the Die/Mould industry, Delcam India will be launching its next generation patent-pending high-speed roughing technology – Vortex®, at the event.  The Vortex® strategy uses solid carbide tools to rough machine parts using the full flute length to cut material by generating offsets from the part profile to produce efficient toolpaths regardless of the part shape, while controlling the engagement angle at all times.  On display at the Delcam booth will be demonstrations related to Vortex® and case studies where customers have saved 60% in machining time over their conventional processes.  The added benefit of the strategy being increased tool life, one can appreciate the savings in tooling investment too.

Delcam will also demonstrate the latest enhancements to its Delcam Electrode integrated solution for the design, machining and inspection of electrodes.  The enhancements include support for burn-vector electrodes, automated machining of electrode frames, batch processing of multiple machining projects and faster generation of electrode drawings.
The ability to automate programming within PowerMILL as part of the electrode solution does save considerable time for the user.  However, when machining a large number of electrodes, it is inefficient to wait for toolpaths to be calculated on each individual project.  To overcome this problem, the option to use batch processing of multiple projects has been introduced within the electrode machining wizard.
Delcam Electrode combines Delcam’s PowerSHAPE CAD software, PowerMILL CAM system and PowerINSPECT inspection software to give a completely integrated solution for the design, machining and inspection of electrodes.  At the heart of the Delcam solution is a novel file format – the .Trode file.  This contains all the information for each electrode project, including not only the electrode design but also the machining and inspection information, plus the set-up sheets for its manufacture and use.  Having all the required information in a single file simplifies data management as well as increasing overall efficiency.

Commenting on the participation, Vineet Seth, Delcam’s Managing Director for India and Middle East, said, “We would like to present our Advanced Manufacturing Solutions to Toolmakers and Toolmaking organisations who also cater to allied industries such as Aerospace, Power generation, Heavy Engineering and Defence sectors amongst others.  Our solutions have been successfully implemented across these high-precision industries, and it is only natural that Toolrooms adopt these for their design and manufacturing requirements.  We also provide specialist solutions for the machining of small parts (MicroMachining) including Swiss-Type Turning and complex, Multi-Axis Turn-Mill applications.  Our On-Machine-Verification Application/Tool that has been successfully embraced by manufacturers of large Dies & Moulds will also be on offer and I feel that the time is now ripe for toolrooms making large dies and moulds to adopt this path breaking technology to save time and money.  Quite a number of Die Mould companies in India work actively with the Healthcare industry.  Our CAD/CAM tools for Design and Manufacturing of Custom Orthotic insoles, Dental restorations, implants and Orthopaedic footwear might interest a section of the industry, and we would be eager to discuss these emerging opportunities with them.”

Further to Delcam’s recent acquisition by Autodesk, the company will now operate as a wholly-owned, independently-operated subsidiary, so that it can continue to deliver its industry-leading software to its customers.  “Delcam India will maintain its focus on growing our market share, with the added strength that will come from being part of a larger organisation,” commented Mr. Seth.  “Our business will continue to operate as before, with our customers receiving the same high level of support from our skilled and experienced engineers.”
